The Aftermath of The Haboob in Phoenix . . .

I missed the haboob that hit the Phoenix area on Tuesday, July 5 ,2011, but got to arrive home to the mess. My pool was a muddy ugly thing and nothing but time and the filter will do anything to help it. We tried to manually vacuum it, that seemed to quicken the process a little but patience is the only thing that will help dealing with this natural phenomenon. I am a little sorry I was out of town to miss seeing it, but I am so happy that my family was all home safe and sound when it hit.

The haboob is an Arabic name for an intense sandstorm that usually happens in the deserts of areas like the Sahara. While here in Phoenix, Arizona when they hit it is more dust than sand. It seems this storm that hit on Tuesday evening was one of the worst that has hit the area in the last 35 years. It was 7,000 ft. high and 20 to 50 miles wide. Wow. Amazing! It only lasted about 7 – 10 minutes and traveled about 60 miles an hr.  This is worse in a way. The dust remains in the air for a long while and causes respiratory problems.

It is in all the outside lawn furniture upholstery which I’m now cleaning. Fun, fun! There is  a fine, fine dust that keeps settling all over everything. Yuck. But deal with it we will.

There will be signs in the sky and the earth below. You know about the other one that hit this week. There will be more.
