I’m so excited, I just can’t hide it . . .

I spoke to my favorite cousin today, and we spoke of many things. The most important being , how much we couldn’t wait to see each other next week when I arrive for the COUSINS Reunion …There are only about 8 of us I think, we’ve lost a few of us over the years. . .but there are their 7 children who I know and also babysat, then their children’s children who I don’t know. It’s going to be so touching. I am so looking forward to this day. I remember those kids when they were so little and cute and now I’m going to see them grown up and parents themselves, it kind of blows my mind!

My brother Dennis and I are flying in, (no spouses or children for us we want to spend some time there visiting and reminiscing at spots where we spent our childhood together) on Wednesday and staying at Daryl’s house with her and her husband Jerry for the visit. She called today to tell me to pack light as she has a washer/dryer, blow dryer, curling iron, bath products, etc. which I think was so thoughtful of her to do! I love her!  She also wants us to use their vechicle, not rent one, which is just too nice!

Now I just have to contain myself  for a few more days. It’s going to be a surprise to see all these people, and she’s not telling anyone we’re coming. I don’t remember how many years it’s been. We’ve all spread out over the country. I now live in Arizona, I lived in New York City and New Orleans so we lost touch. Some of them moved to Florida, too so time and distance can separate you. When my mother broke up the house and moved to Florida when my father retired the family kind of lost touch, because we really didn’t have our old home base. I believe the American Family may be being lost this way, as we all move up and out of our old neighborhoods. It’s a shame because when I was a kid we were all so close. Oh, well, maybe we can make up some ground now and see everyone again exchange e-mails, facebook, etc the new ways to keep in touch in this new technological age.

So, she’s the one who came up with I’m so excited, I just can’t hide it, she said she wanted to send me a note with that written in it . . .I almost started to cry.  I thought that was one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me! I know it’s a song, but for my older cousin, to say that to me over the phone, after not seeing me for years, I was just so touched, I still am!

Ok, enough mushy stuff. Now, I have to think of something to take to her! Oh, thank God my friend Celeste is coming over to shop! She’s great at things like this. . .plus she was helping me reorganize my den to look more contemporary since I got this new table that I needed to help “fit” in with my decor, so we were already going to do a shopping run. . .so now I can just broaden my scope of purchases.

So, more later on the shopping extravaganza . . .
