I know, I know my baby is 18, so cut me a break, he’s still MY baby! And it’s just the first step of us cutting the umbilical cord. . .believe me I’ve already done this with my older son and we’re doing more serious separation this year as he’s taking all his furniture with him and actually emptying his physical room out. So, as if that isn’t enough, it’s now time for the actual whole “empty nest” for real thing.
This morning I had to get up at the crack of 7:00 am, which is not my thing. Then as I get up to check on him, he tells me I could have slept in, as if?! I’ve been up for a little while, thinking of him going to this Engineering camp, to meet and greet all new friends. I’m all excited for him, he’s dreading it. That’s the big difference between females and males, between mothers and sons. So. I also talked all the way there as I had to drive and drop him off, asking him if he’s excited about school, scared, or what, he says “I’m Whatever..” Unbelievable! Guys! So, baby steps first, I dropped him off, and called my husband right away and was sad…next week he leaves for good.
Imagine when he leaves, I’ll be alone with my cat, Spooky who I love. Poor cat! I’m gonna smother him! Oh, and watch out my dear husband, you may get more than you reckoned for.
