So now that the Senate Democrats have indicated that they will not vote on whether to extend the Bush tax cuts before midterm elections, which is ludicrous in itself, the biggest news in Washington today was that Stephen Colbert, of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report,” testified today before the House Judiciary Committee’s immigration subcommittee hearing. What a joke! Not in a good way!
Colbert appeared before the House subcommittee alongside United Farm Workers President Arturo Rodriguez. It was a travesty and a serious mocking of Congress. I am not any happier with Congress than the next guy but I believe there is a time and a place for comedy, and on the floor of the House is not one of them. Colbert should have spoken honestly and made his point if he had one trying to help the issue, not used his shtick. Good for him if he worked on a farm in upstate New York. He is still an Idiot after this performance! Immigration Reform is important and the Democrats should have gotten their point across but no one knew what they were trying to say. This showing was just stupid, nonsensical and a waste of government time and money which really means yours and mine. Why don’t these performers learn to stay where they belong, performing!
Unless “Stars” want to use their celebrity for good and donate time and money to espouse an intelligent informed decision why don’t they keep doing what their are doing, being an overpaid performer! Otherwise, why is their opinion anymore important than yours or mine? Not because of the fame or money, is it?! That would be Capitalism, and I thought that was an Evil thing, according to them??? Hmmm? Quite a conundrum?!
