Stop Spreading the Panic #*$

I turned on talk radio this morning for a few minutes, happened to hear a throw away comment, got busy doing something had to turn off the radio, but for some reason the comment or I should say question hung in my mind, niggling away at my consciousness driving me mad. I decided I had to write about and see what others thought about this.

What if your son wanted to dress as a Princess for Halloween? Yeah, so?

Why do we have to be so homophobic? Why does that matter? Anything else doesn’t matter, right? A zombie, a bloody killer, none of that ever concerns people but if a boy says he want to dress up like a princess for Halloween everybody gets up in arms? It’s just a costume…my God! Why do people have to make things bigger than they are…kids do not think of things as we do, but if you make them self conscious, then they will think there is something wrong with what they do. My son is older and has dressed in pink as a ballerina, to be ironic or funny and I never thought there was anything wrong with it. If anything I thought it showed he was more comfortable in his masculinity that he could DO it without being frightened. My GOD lighten up AMERICA, can’t a kid be a kid, without right away worrying about sexuality being associated with a costume or what a kid wants to play with like a doll. If it does you are not going to change it by stifling it, so stop, what will be will be, so let a kid be a kid!
