What is so ironic is I have been getting the shots for about 10 years, 5 years here in Arizona and 5 years in NJ. I was integral working in the original blind case study for Allergan and Botox for migraines. They found it could be used for a crossover purpose, not just for beauty/plastic surgery. The botox is injected using very sharp fine needles usually in the forehead, jaw, neck & upper shoulders and the head itself.
The other day the FDA finally approved the usage of Botox for Migraines. It now can not be turned down by insurance any more as an experimental procedure! Yay! Hopefully many people will find the help and relief of pain that I have found. It seems to help by relaxing the muscles related to the areas of pain because you don’t tense the same muscles as much because they are kind of numbed.
For me it took a while, but after documentation and proof it is covered by my insurance now, for a long while, I paid the cost myself, but it was worth every cent as it relieved me of my pain.
It is just a BIG deal for all people with headache pain that the FDA has finally approved it that they and their Drs. may turn to Botox as a new protocol for some pain relief. Even my Neurologist who has been treating me here in Arizona for 5 years has said that he now can actually treat me differently; using a different amount and a different protocol. How interesting. And only for the good my Dr. said…
Hopefully, The Obama Care won’t bollocks that up! Lets keep our fingers crossed!
