Tax cuts don’t cause deficits overspending does. The media have this wrong as usual with all the hubbub about the President flipping sides. The only plan that made any sense was to go along with the Republicans and the President with the prevention of the tax increasing in January, but Obama gets his cherry on top by getting his extension of jobless benefits. Now the alienation of his buddies, Harry and Nancy is icing on the cake for the Republicans. This is some crazy game of politics! But that is the problem, the average Joe is fed up with the Political games, we want to move on with the business of getting America under control; the deficit, jobs, unemployment, taxes, etc. and last but not least Crooked Politicians!
By preventing the tax increase, not giving tax cuts for the rich as the media so smugly and winningly, and might I add wrongly put it, the economy might have had a chance of actually floundering a little longer and eventually pulling out of this government-induced crash and burn recession. As of right now, we don’t know if it’s a done deal.
If the deal does not go down, we may very well hit the double dip recession we’ve been warned of, maybe even a depression. That will be horrible for all of us. But might we all learn some wonderful lessons, not unlike our forefathers did in the Great Depression, of the worth of a dollar, how family, friends, neighborhoods do matter and when they work together they can make do with less and it seems like more.
So, I guess, we’ll see how it all goes down, won’t we? These are going to be interesting times ahead.
