OMG, I Got My New Smart Sling…and the Surgery is Done!

You should see how big this thing is… it’s as wide as I am…it’s a hoot…I have to shop for special clothes just to leave the hospital in… I need like XXL just to go over the sling, it has a cushion attached to my side about 5-6 inches wide to protect and hold my arm for a few weeks.

It’s a little over-kill. Or so I thought…

I had the surgery and it was a success, but a lot more complicated than anticipated. Ouch! I am in serious pain…the Dr. found much more damage in there once he was there.  He thought he just had to reattach the labrum, but then found muscle damage, tendon damage, ligament damage, a divot in the bone and stratified muscles. The surgery was much longer than estimated.

I was supposed to start physical surgery on Monday and there is no way that is happening, the Dr. wants me quietly recuperating at home for about 6 weeks from the major surgery, sleeping sitting up.

As  I came out of the anesthesia  I also had a negative reaction, similar to asthma where I could not breathe, could not catch my breath, they had to give me oxygen, and want me under strict supervision now as they don’t know what happened. It was quite a scary feeling, if that’s what people feel with asthma, I am so sorry for them.

All in all it was a lot of fun. Can’t wait ’til I’m all better and it’s behind me !
