We are seriously considering buying a beach front property somewhere in the world. Somewhere not too far from Arizona. I am really interested in a second house where the weather is temperate, about an average 85 degrees where we can get away from the cold of the sometimes cool winters and of course the unbearably hot summers.
We are hoping this is a good time to buy real estate as the markets are down. I watch HGTV House Hunters International hoping I’ll get some experience and knowledge on how to deal with the market itself. It has given me some pointers, but I don’t know if the prices ever really go down on beach front property.
I do think though, that this is as good a time as any as we’re not getting any younger, and we might as well start enjoying the house now while we can. We never know how long we’ll be on this earth, or how long we’ll be healthy to travel and enjoy going to the beach which is the type of vacation which we always seem to gravitate to. This is why I’m thinking of a beach house…and ownership.
Instead of the price of the hotel and meals and all the hassle of finding a different place each time, why not find our dream house, leave some clothes in it, make ourselves comfortable and whenever we want we can go there for long weekends, vacations, whatever? I’m all for it, now to find it for the right price, ON the water and talk my husband totally into it. I think he’s at least half there, just for the right price.
Now, the problem of finding the property. I sure have my work cut out for me. If anyone as any advice, feel free to comment.
I’m thinking about 2-3 bedroom, 2 baths. On the water. Probably in the Caribbean, British owned islands, not Jamaica, around $200K-$300K budget. This is what I’m aiming for.
Hey, dreaming is free, and if I look hard and long enough, perhaps I’ll find what I want…wish me luck.
