AMERICAN Protesters – Occupy Wall Street and Any Other !

This is America and I believe in your right to Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Assembly for that is what sets America apart from many countries. What I find amusing yet scary is when a group does gather to protest something and they don’t seem to have any real direction, answer or solution.

What is the endgame for the Occupy Wall Street Protesters? What do they really want? I have seen some of these protesters interviewed and they can’t succinctly explain what they are actually protesting and what it is they want. If you are going to gather and protest something shouldn’t you be able to explain your cause? Other than some seemingly ridiculous talking points saying how much they hate the 1% of the highest money makers in America, judging Wall Streeters I don’t really get their point or what they want to do to help themselves or America. Do they want the wealth spread around?

I don’t presume to think I’m smart enough to understand all the ins and outs of finances but how does blaming Wall Street for all of America’s ills fix our problems? I agree America is in a lot of financial trouble but I do not know if the people on Wall Street are to be blamed for the majority of it. I believe that the people in Washington have something to do with the rules and regulations that the Wall Streeters then run rampant with!

Personally, I’m behind peaceful gathering and protesting, but usually there is some kind of leader who can explain why they are upset with the people they are blaming. Then the leader should be able to suggest a way to lead their people on a different path. I don’t see that here.

As time unwinds, the supposed peaceful protesters have overstayed their welcome. The parks they are inhabiting are now cesspools of feces, drugs and other forms of degradation. There have been formal complaints of rape and even an arrest of said rapist. The Occupiers are now no longer peaceful, there are riots, arrests and injuries. The costs for containing this has skyrocketed into the millions, and I thought the Occupiers were all against waste of money?!

Businesses in NYC are suffering from the Occupancy. If these people are truly for the 99% perhaps they should remember who are in their holy inner-sanctum of that 99%. I would think the police are part of that and they should try to work together in harmony not pick fights and cause mayhem. How about the owners of the small-businesses that these protesters are taking no notice of as they trash their restrooms and ruin the foot traffic to?

The comparison to the Tea party has been made. I don’t remember Grandma looting. The Tea Party members were trying to start their own party, unfortunately they then threw in their allegiance with the Republicans or vice versa. Perhaps they knew they couldn’t really get a third party going, it’s just too tough at this time in history without a whole uprising of the middle class.  That’s too bad. Now the Tea Party as part of the Republican Party is a watered down version. How are they changing the system now? It’s the same old same old.

That’s why polling is currently all over the place, people can’t figuring out who they want for a Republican Nominee candidate. It changes with every straw pole. Go figure if whoever gets nominated to run against Obama makes anyone happy. I wonder if no matter how unhappy we all seem to be with this administration if anything changes!

When the Tea Party Protesters were hot in the news they were vilified by this Administration to anyone who would listen. The President insinuated that racism was behind the Tea Party movement, that they were against him as a black man in office. Joe Biden likened them to terrorists. People were up in arms.

For some reason the President seems to understand the Occupy Wall Street Movement as people who are upset with the terrible financial straits we are in as if he has nothing to do with it. Hmmmm. Interesting. Is it because they are NOT in Washington protesting him?

I have noticed that the longer and uglier the Movement gets, the quieter the President gets. Now he doesn’t want any part of the mess.

What do you think, I’d love to know?

I see we’ve been thinking some similar thoughts today! 🙂

I see this as mostly kids that thought they were entitled to good careers and lots of money once they got out of college. Granted there are legitimate gripes about government and its favoring of huge corporations over the average citizen. I just don’t think they’d be out there if unemployment was at 6%.

Interesting point about the Tea Party. I was disappointed (though I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised) when it’s pretty reasonable libertarian beginnings were co-opted by the GOP to try and seem “populist”.

I agree that they’re not explaining their cause very well, and in fact the kind of wishy-washiness we’ve seen from Obama just makes the left wing seem like a bunch of drifters. We need direction, and we needed it yesterday. It probably does not help that Obama is the incumbent – no challenging ideas ahead. I do like his jobs plan, though.

My opinion of Obama has been stated . . .I hope anybody but him gets in to be President! I I really do think we need someone to take hold of this country, set up some guidelines that don’t step on our constitutional rights and get out of the way! I DO NOT want to be a Nanny STATE! I’m sorry I do not like his jobs plan., I think it is good money after bad and want NO part of that, Thank you for reading and commenting though!

There are definitely legitimate gripes about the government favoring big business over the average citizen, but that just proves my point to go to Washington and Occupy WASHINGTON!
I don’t get Occupy Wall Street and their point, what is it?
I’m not sympathetic to spoiled college students and their thought that they should get out of college and be entitled to a $100K career, but that’s the nonsense they tell them so they’ll pay the outrageous tuition. Sometimes life sucks . . .and you have to settle for a job and work your way up! But they are right the system is broken!
I’m also sad that the TEA Party was swallowed up by the Republican party . . .how is that helping anything? I don’t have the answers, the system is broken, maybe we do need people to rise up and not settle!
