So I Got A New SMART Phone….

And boy do I feel sorry for my friends. They are the Guinea pigs  . . . and I can’t imagine it’s going to be painless!

I’ve already been on the couch crying because I couldn’t figure out how to get pictures to FaceBook! I’m so mature, I ran to the livingroom, threw myself on the couch and had a full-blown meltdown because I couldn’t DO IT! I really thought SMART phone meant it would almost read my mind…no huh? I still have to download apps. and upgrades and some of these things are just beyond me…or so I thought, but given a few days I’m actually learning and I feel like I am leaving the cave and putting the tablet, rock and chisel behind. Yay!

I do feel badly though, unfortunately one friend of mine had been the one who was the recipient of more than 5 texts within about 2 minutes typos includes, trying to explain about my new phone and number….without my name included in the text. She queried back…That’s nice, congrats on your new phone…Who is this? That’s when I realized I really had actually no real grip on this situation at all! When I got my new Droid Razr Maxx it was a BOGO (buy one get one free offer from Verizon) and I had to give up my old NJ area code and number to start a whole new 2-yr. contract to take part in the offer. I’m sure you know how that goes! As if you could be lucky enough to really have two contracts expiring at the same time…then the offer would be straightforward! But nooooo! Anyway, the fates stepped in and it worked out, so my son who was up for a new phone bought his and I got the BOGO, yay!

So, back to the phone. I didn’t realize how weird it is when you are out of the loop of high-tech. connection for a little while. It just so happens that the Saturday – Sunday period was when I was trying to get in touch with all my friends and they were going through things of their own…and God forbid were too busy to get back to me. I felt so stranded, so out of touch….it was so strange and almost scary! I thought I was all alone out there in the world…out of touch with everybody….even though I still had my computer, huh, so weird!

Eventually I started using my landline phone and leaving messages for my friends and family about the new phone and number so they wouldn’t ignore me wondering who this new number was…either deleting the message altogether as soon as they saw a strange number, not even opening the message ….never can be too careful in this paranoid world we now inhabit.

Anyway, it is all coming together, I am now in the 21st century! Am loving it!? I even stopped at my car dealership and had him sync the phone with my car so I can drive hands-free…it’s  Bluetooth capable.  Just waiting for my first bill when I go over my 4GIG allotment or my son does….hope it never happens…they did double this that same day as the BOGO so am hoping this will all end well….of course it will doesn’t everything ?!
