American Idol – Controversy and All!

The Gentle Giant Jermain Jones isn’t here tonight because it seems he had a police record and Idol couldn’t deal with that! He had 4 outstanding warrants and Idol said he should have disclosed that let alone no one with warrants is allowed on the show. Oh well, too bad so sad! Bu By, see ya Jermain…to bad you blew such a giant chance….so on with the show!

Phillip Phillips is singing “Hard To Handle” by Black Crowes and does a good job. He rocks it. He just had surgery and still sounded great! The judges loved him, but Steven did say “Watch your melody!” The songs are from the year of their birth tonight.

Jessica sings “Turn the Beat Around”. I thought the timing was a little off and so did all the judges. The song wasn’t made for her or her voice, but she is amazing and her stage presence is great so that may be why we were a little disappointed, but she is the whole package so she should be safe!

Heejun Han sings “Right Here Waiting” by Richard Marks and Jimmy Iovine teaches him how to pronounce the ending of the words, English 101. Randy didn’t like it, telling him it was pitchy and he seemed breathy. J Lo said by the end it came through. Steven said it was breathy, too but that he does have a special tone to his voice. I can do without Heejun, I do not think he sings well.

Elise sings “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green. Steven loved her voice the smoky, raspy, bluesy tones of it. Me too! Jennifer thought she was great and felt the feeling behind her singing. Randy said “Elise is back!” He really liked her.

Deandre sings “Endless Love”.  Jennifer thinks he can sing anything, she thinks he was steered wrong by Will I AM and Jimmy, she doesn’t think it was the right song for him, she doesn’t think he felt the song, which he admitted and Steven and Randy agreed with that. They think it was boring. I think it was abysmal …finally they agree with me. Oh, too bad, perhaps hairball will go home! But then again, the little girls still sounded like they loved him! He’ll probably still be safe! I think the judges took truth serum tonight, though!

Shannon is singing “One Sweet Day” by Mariah. The judges thought she did a pretty good job. I thought it was boring. It did not do it for me. For some reason they think she is good which I just don’t get, she’s a nice kid, but I just don’t think she’s that good.

Colton sings “Broken Heart” by White Lion. Jimmy Iovine and Will think he kills it…we’ll see what the judges think. Jennifer liked it because she thought Colton looks pretty when he sings. For some reason Steven just thought it was the wrong song and did not think he delivered, and panned him straight out. It was weird. Randy liked it because he watched him and just liked him and his presentation. I think he has showmanship and he’s pretty good.

Erika sings “Heaven” by Bryan Adams. Steven again didn’t like her arraignment, which I have to agree with. She was all over the place with the song and it was hurky jerky. Jennifer didn’t like it either. She considers her the Janice Joplin of the competition and thought she could have done more with it with her voice. Randy said she should have left a song like that alone and sang it the way it was originally, he said don’t let others force you to do things. Huh…ya think Jimmy and Will I am were a little heavy handed with their advice and the judges don’t see eye to eye with them…so where do the kids stand in the gap…interesting, huh?

Skylar sings  “Sneakin’ Up On You” by Bonnie Raite. Unanimous decision that she killed it by the judges!  She was smart to stick by her guns and sing the song she wanted not either choice that Jimmy Iovine or Will I Am suggest. Good job girl! She is good…One rockin’ Country Girl and country isn’t even my favorite genre!

Joshua Ledet sings “When a Man Loves a Woman”. It was fabulous. He was singing for his crawfish and the boy can sing! He was awesome! He got a standing ovation by all the judges and my God was he great! He is emotionally moving! I loved the song and presentation.

Hollie sings “Power of Love” by Celine Dion. She is one little power house. She can take on a superstar like Celine and do an amazing job!  The judges loved her.

Randy had the nerve and honesty to say Heejun is in trouble! Awwww! The truth hurts! We shall see what happens tomorrow….
