This morning as I am wont to do, I walked around my backyard to ground myself. I found a lemon that had fallen from our tree and near it, I found an intact butterfly that had laid down to rest for the last time. I picked it up and brought it inside and lay it on my desk, to look on its beauty. I don’t have the heart to get rid of it…..butterflies are so delicate and fleeting in their loveliness, they always haunt and attract me. I may get a frame or a shadowbox to share and keep forever the fleeting beauty that is this lovely creature. It reminded me of a haiku I wrote years ago.
In the wind there are
two butterflies on journey
fluttering their wings…..
