We’re back from our little jaunt to Cancun, MX which was kind of a surprise vacation. I mentioned in a conversation with my husband about a month before that I’d love to go away for the Christmas break and he took care of it with no muss and no fuss. It was delightful.
Believe me, if it wasn’t for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law who own a travel agency I don’t think any of our trips would be so hassle-free. It’s nice to have this availability at our fingertips, forget all the hubbub of having a lawyer or doctor in the family, a travel agent is where it’s at.
So onto the trip itself… the resort we stayed at was an all-inclusive including room service 24 hrs. a day and free mini-bar privileges which was very nice, though we are not big drinkers and unfortunately we forgot about the room service when we couldn’t find a restaurant. Needless to say, some people were all about the drinking. My only complaint about these all-inclusives is take some people add alcohol, instant asshole and there were plenty to fit the bill. There were the bar groupies who never left the swim up bar. That in of itself is fine and dandy, but when you get loud and obnoxious from imbibing too much, it kind of irks me. Now, I understand drinking, been there done that when I was young, but when you are in your 30’s or older and still living that life I just don’t get it. I understand vacation principles that people need to let off steam but when your good time negatively affects those around you, I think people should use their heads and sense, but maybe that’s an oxymoron with drinking……..
There was one night that there were the same “bunch” of drunks in the hot tub which unfortunately borders both beach front restaurants. Wow, did these people put on a side-show! It really was something to see…….there were clothes coming off and really loud partying that over-shadowed everyone in the restaurants’ enjoyment of their meal. We fortunately were around the corner and only had trouble hearing our waiter and dinner companion 3/4 of the time. What are ya’ gonna do? Sometimes I wonder if people notice or care that there are others in the world they are adversely affecting, or are they that oblivious or really don’t give a shit? Huhn…..people can be a selfish bunch, and maybe I’m coming off as a crab, but when we were leaving the restaurant another couple walking behind us, as my husband commented “How many assholes can you fit in a hot tub?”….as I laughed and repeated the joke this young couple heard us and disgustedly asked “Did you see the floor show? When I commented, “No we were lucky enough to miss that, just heard all the commotion” they stated that it was disgusting and really obnoxious as clothes were coming off, etc., and what was especially weird was that their mothers were also there at the resort for a family wedding. “Oh Momma, are you so proud?”
Besides that I enjoyed our get-away to the beach…..who doesn’t love sun, waves and warm temperatures during December? Our 1st floor unit faced the beach and pool and couldn’t have been more centrally located. The bass thumping music gets old after a few days, but you can escape it at the beach.
The moon was almost full and shining through the palm fronds in the evening casting a beautiful glow on the surroundings. There was a singer and her guitar player, Martha & Coco who were absolutely adorable. Obviously English was not her first language, as she had a strong accent and cutely accented the 80’s love songs she was singing. It was very romantic!
It was a pleasant getaway but life moves on so when we came home after 5 days we were ready to return.
