Mother’s Day included me getting up and showering preparing myself for a day of visiting with my 2 sons and husband. My oldest son who is 23 decided to make a reservation at Mimi’s for Brunch which was a wonderful idea.
My husband was ahead of me in his ablutions and preparation for the day. When I came downstairs he stated he was going to the store for bread. I assumed this was “code” for my Mother’s Day present as he didn’t acknowledge the day more than saying “Happy Mother’s Day” and getting ready to leave, which is unusual for him.
Feeling a little non-plussed, though he isn’t MY Mother I went about getting beautiful as I was waiting for my boys to arrive.
Having requested a coffee from my husband’s trip, when he got home, he had it, hot and just the way I like it, and guess what he surprised me with the most beautiful orchid plant and pretty card. He really is a gem…..
The orchid is very unusual – many little red & yellow blossoms…so pretty and the card is 3D and includes my favorite – butterflies.
The boys entered the scene after I was done tearing up, and continued the onslaught to my emotions…..tears were aplenty.
My boys are very sweet and the balloon plays a “Happy Mother’s Day” song….I love balloons!
We soon left for Mimi’s and afterwards we decided to go to the casino together. The weather is in the the low 100’s outside so entertainment is a little limited, and we had never taken my younger son to the casino. We figure since casinos are all over here in Arizona perhaps we should be the ones to initiate him to the pitfalls of gambling and show him how to be judicious with your money and just have a little fun by playing $0.40 or so on a bet on slots. I backed them both with $100.00 from my winnings and knew they would use this carefully because they are smart boys and this is a lot of money to them. They sat at the automated roulette wheel and bet real low and made their money last. I think they both only gambled about $40.00 and took the rest home with them. I sat near them and we chatted for a while. Eventually I walked off, leaving the boys to bond and went to one of my favorite machines…….and hit big. Happy Mother’s Day to me….I hit a jackpot of $1,332.87 after getting 340 free games, then another 180 and texted my sons so they could come over and watch and keep me company, They came over and we enjoyed the big win and playing of the games together as I kept retriggering.
So all in all it was an amazing day….my husband flew out at about 5:15 pm for Minnesota and a business trip and my boys stayed and hung out with me until 9:00 pm.
