Mountain Monsters – New American Heroes?

Have you seen this show “Mountain Monsters” on Destination America HD?

It’s hilarious. It’s a bunch of guys from the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia on the hunt for monsters of legend and how they spend more time running from the monsters than catching them.

The characters themselves, Huckleberry, Trapper, Wild Bill, Tracker and the Rookie are kind of ridiculous but even more entertaining because they are serious about their monster hunting, including interviewing people who’ve had supposed “sightings”. Unfortunately, they are inept.

The Rookie is a very heavy guy who keeps on falling whenever they need to run uphill or through water eliciting many guffaws from my husband and me.

Armed with guns they never use, or overuse, helmet lights, camouflage and hip waders, they usually track and chase all the “supposed” monsters they’re searching for trying to lure them into their traps to no avail. They have supposedly gotten pictures of the Grass man, that resembles the Northwestern Sasquatch.

Based on their investigation, it seems they almost get their nemeses, but it always manages to get away after taunting them and showing us their screaming bravery.

The list of creatures they’ve searched for so far are The Lizard Monster, The Devil Dog, Moth Man, The Grass Man, Wolfman and my personal favorite the 500-lb. Wampus Beast. Personally, I’ve never heard of these monsters, but truth be told, I don’t live in the Appalachians.

So, if you’re looking for some lighthearted entertainment….tune in!
