I have been bitching to my husband that we need to “do” things to break out of our regular weekend plans, so this weekend I came up with a trip to Tucson to the Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium at the University of Arizona which was fabulous. There was a Crystalline Treasure Exhibit from China that was remarkable. I am a rock hound and have always been and to see all these amazing crystals, I was just blown away, they were just so beautiful and so extensive a collection. Downstairs the Science Center had their own collection of crystals, fossils, precious metals, and precious stones. It was quite impressive, there were 39,000 stones all in one place. I photographed it quite extensively. but won’t bore you with all my pictures but suffice it to say, if you like rocks and crystals, it’s a must see. There was also a nice little star-show in the planetarium and some hands-on exhibits for the kids in the center.
On the way home there was an amazing sunset. So all in all it was quite an amazing day. We stopped at the casino in Tucson which I was happily surprised with. I thought it was big and pretty. It reminded my of a Vega-style casino – so big and it had many restaurants surrounding it. It was fun and my husband won!
The next day, Sunday we took it easy, though I fought all day with my computer, having “issues” with it. In the evening we had a wonderful time attending a fabulous concert at a small venue in Tempe, AZ at a club called “Club Red” seeing an old timer Johnny Winter and it was wonderful. Here are some pictures.
