Today was Day 9 on the Oprah – Deepak Chopra Meditation 21 Day Challenge. The Centering thought for the day was “My Loving Truth shines for all to see”. I had fallen behind and needed to do Day 8 also. Day 8’s Centering thought was “I love and am loved unconditionally”. It was about loving ourselves and that we deserve our own self-love first and foremost.
As I looked at my Facebook messages on my phone there was a message from Ram Dass that sandwiched perfectly with this topic. I’m cherry picking a quote from his longer message “A Heavy Curriculum” that you might want to read in it’s entirety, but this quote “If I’m not appreciated, that’s your problem that you don’t appreciate me. Unless I need your love, then it’s my problem. So my needs are what are giving you the power over me.” Ram Dass
As I meditated it all came to me. We need to realize that we deserve to love ourselves and forget the negative self-talk we all do. We are imperfect beings, so what get over it, we are still loved! As we learn to love and forgive/accept ourselves for our imperfections, so shall others love us and so shall we realize that others deserve our love for their imperfections, we are all part of the bigger picture of the cosmos. If we don’t judge ourselves so harshly, perhaps we won’t judge others so harshly. And we are always loved unconditionally by whatever power we believe in.
Then we can let our loving truth shine through for all to see. (Which just so happens to be the centering thought for Day 9.)
We need to clear what’s in our way reflect, meditate, learn and grow.
It all fits together beautifully. Meditation does help. It quiets the mind to reflect and realize these basic truths that many of us have forgotten.
What do you think?
