So yet again we went to Vegas and survived it. It was a successful visit with another varied group of people having a nice time together in a frenetic place. Unfortunately I didn’t hit it big, I lost but I had a lot of fun trying my luck though it seemed Lady Luck didn’t smile on me she seemed to be generous with all my compadres. We did have a lot of fun making new friendships and finding a new casino and hotel we thought was really nice to perhaps stay at next visit. We usually stay at the Aria, but we’re not enamored any more since we have learned that as of September 31st every year you lose your earned points and have to start re-earning your points on your M Life card each year. Our new hotel of choice shall be The Wynn which is quite beautiful and the casino is quite nice, too. Their point system seems to be similar, but the card and point system doesn’t have levels to attain and lose at their discretion.
We went for the NHRA car races at nearby Las Vegas Speedway. It’s a long day for those who aren’t big-time race fans….believe me metal stands are not really comfortable even if you pay the extra money for the stands with the backrests! But we hung tough and saw the day through ’til the end and were glad we did for we saw top fuel dragsters, funny cars then jet cars which are awesome shooting their flames out their afterburners.
The second day of the races we let the men attend on their own and the women spent a day of our own choosing. We went shopping, out to lunch, Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum and finally dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s where we finished up with a pitcher of their fabulous white sangria that I highly recommend, it’s delicious! Dinner was a giant success with a lot of laughs shared, memories made and friendships cemented! It’s so nice when a group of women can bond and enjoy time together without any drama!
A group of 6 of us went to dinner at Michael Mina’s for dinner. Talk about paying for a name! My husband ordered “rack of lamb” and was served 2 little rib lamb chops for $52 dollars. Now don’t get me wrong, he said they were delicious, after he requested my piece of bread because he was still hungry! My fish was very good, but again the portions were skimpy, I am not a big eater and I was still hungry, another friend of ours ordered it too, a gentleman and I think he inhaled it in 30 seconds.
As for the service itself, I am not a bitch, really but it left something to be desired. My husband and another woman asked for their orders specifically to be cooked a certain way, my husband his lamb pink, not red that he could not digest it when it’s red and the waiter assured him he understood him. One of the woman asked for her Kansas City strip steak to be cooked medium well and was assured it would be, both arrived rare. The waiter was summoned to remedy the situation. He understood and was nice. My husband’s returned correctly. The woman’s was still rare, as if it wasn’t even thrown back on the flame, she was prepared to settle for it that way, I insisted we summon the waiter to get it as she wanted it, we returned it yet again. This time it was more well done, but still not medium well. The manager did finally show up this time apologizing, took it off their bill and comped us 4 deserts. This was a nice thing, but never in my life did I ever have such trouble getting an order right 3 times. It was curious. Our table, which was reserved weeks in advance was the table by the restrooms and the kitchen which was the busiest in the restaurant, which the men enjoyed being able to watch all the well-endowed women walk by. I personally thought the table was lacking. Needless to say I would not recommend the restaurant. You may want to try it just thinking it was an off night, I wish you luck! I personally think it was overpriced with questionable service, as our bill for two was $220 with tip which was for 4 drinks, one appetizer and two entrees, perhaps they don’t need to worry about repeat customers, it is Vegas.
See, Elvis is alive and well, hangin’ out on the Strip…….this was our sighting, maybe the rumors have merit!
The Bellagio again had the atrium set up for Halloween and had a fabulous display for all to enjoy and photograph.
So that’s pretty much the visit in a nutshell…….have fun if you go and I wish you luck!
