Oh, what a surprise! Do you think A & E really wanted to get rid of their largest cash cow, Duck Dynasty? Hell no! When Phil Robertson voiced his religious opinion about gays, adulterers, alcoholics, etc. it seems the only group who was offended was GLAAD (which stands for the Gay & Lesbian alliance against defamation) a U.S. non-governmental media monitoring organization which promotes the image of LGBT people in the media. (which supposedly comprises about 2% of the population in America.)
While Duck Dynasty is the most highly viewed cable reality series……I wonder who made the ridiculous decision to put Phil on indefinite leave or suspension that lasted all of 9 days though it made no difference since the latest season had already been filmed and the family was away because it was duck season.
So now A & E can save face, look like they actually did something to mollify the LGBT community, then after a dramatic 9 days cave to the Religious right who signed the petition to have the Duck Dynasty patriarch back on the air and all is well for A & E’s bottom line, so everybody’s happy. See Virginia there is a Santa Claus!
Ridiculous….it’s was all theater! And so the world turns. It’s all about the almighty dollar and though I hate to sound cynical that’s how I see it!
