With all the swirling controversy surrounding so much of today’s news and politics and how its effecting people, their pocketbooks, and their healthcare yet they still do not seem to be engaged I decided that I needed to get more involved. My husband has started writing letters to his congressmen discussing what he feels is wrong with this country and has even received answers. This has motivated me to write this blog to see if I could engage people and then write some letters myself.
First up for discussion I would like to know what really happened in Benghazi and think whoever is responsible should be held accountable for the bad decisions to stay there at the embassy with no back up and not move heaven and earth to help the men there. There must be consequences for bad decisions in this government which there are not now. It seems that everything is either hidden under the rug or sent to a council to investigate which seems to go no further.
Onto Snowden and his uncovering of the NSA debacle and the government’s abuse of our Fourth Amendment rights. Snowden may very go down as a hero in history. I’m not sure if he went about uncovering the Government’s abuse of mining metadata on American citizens the right way but it’s not up to me to judge him, he should come back to America and face the consequences as other’s in history have. He should be brought to court and let his peers judge him in a court of law.
When the NSA claims to be using this strategy (metadata mining) for “finding” terrorists by abusing our blind ignorance in the name of Homeland Security by trespassing on American citizens rights, without our knowledge because they know what’s best, I believe they are walking a very thin line of whats legal and illegal. I don’t know about you but I am wary of my identity and information’s security.
Rand Paul (R) Senator from Kentucky is bringing a class action suit against the NSA for just this reason and will try to take it to the Supreme Court. I back him all the way.
As for the ACA (Affordable Care Act) or Obama Care whichever name you want to give big government take-over of our healthcare I am also skeptical and wary. If you listen to many doctors and health-care providers, they do not like it either. Many are retiring, because they do not see the feasibility of the system working in the patients best interest. It’s too easy to say doctors make too much money. This is a capitalistic system. These people put a lot of time and money into their education, they deserve to make the money they make. I don’t know about you, but I want a very educated competent doctor working on me when I have to go under the knife. Anyway, I digress…I hate to beat a dead horse, but the famous quote was “If you like your doctor you can keep him”, that has proven to not be true. It was also not supposed to cost one thin dime, explain that after many people’s premiums have gone up except the people who never had insurance before and now are covered at the other’s expense. This system may need more time to prove itself, I will give it time to either implode or work itself out. I pray to God that it doesn’t collapse America from the inside out, but am not optimistic.
A new dimension of the healthcare bill that was just been brought to my attention is that there is a provision set up starting in 2015, that if the insurance companies start to fail because of lack of participation of young healthy enrollees to sustain their financial stability, there is a back up government bailout plan set up, buried in the law. If this happens, we the taxpayer will be footing that bill again! It just seems to get better and better.
I understand some people want to help everybody, but a wise person once said ” God helps those who help themselves”. Now, I am no preacher, but “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.Chinese Proverb” and the reason I am throwing these quotes in is I don’t think that hand outs will save the day. I believe you can help more people with a hand up, not a hand out. The more people are handed things, such as 126 weeks of unemployment, unlimited food stamps the more dependent they become. To educate people is the answer, to give people a job, not free “things” is the answer. To teach people English is helpful. To donate to people is great, but don’t tell me I have to give ’til it hurts because you say so. Who is government to tell me that I have to give my hard earned money to taxes that they’ll disperse as they see fit and raise the rate every time they come up with another hair-brained scheme they are behind? The people in the government work for us – “We The People” and I believe they have forgotten that. We pay their salary and we should have a say about it. On the way to dispersing and spending our tax money, they’ll take their cut, that’s what big government is saying……
What do you think, any comments?
