All Things Booky

book group

Today was the meeting of my book group that meets at Barnes & Nobles in the coffee area. We push two tables together and kibitz about a book we’ve picked out to read. It is by no means a high-brow book group, but it is a fun group of women meeting and discussing books and life.

We come together once a month to discuss a book we’ve agreed upon to read and branch off from there about many different issues. It is interesting how we break down into little groups and discuss other things like hiking, eating, family and a myriad of other subjects including politics and food.

Until this time, many of us have not mixed socially except for this group and lunch afterwards. We are all part of a bigger women’s group though many do not partake in other parts of that group. As we’ve gotten to know each other, we’ve discussed our other interests and some of us are speaking of getting together to share them. This might be a nice thing.

I myself have shown an interest in hiking with others and am awaiting e-mails for dates. I have also spoken to some about Sushi and might do lunch. It’s all about networking no matter where in life we are. You never know who you’ll meet around the next corner, who’ll share an interest and may turn out to be a new best friend, we just need to be open to it!
