Amy Winehouse is dead at 27

How tragic yet not surprising given how troubled this young woman was. This Grammy-winning Brit was found dead in her London house, yet even her mother Janis said her sudden death came as a surprise as she had seen her just the day before. Janis stated that her death was just an inevitability, but she never expected it quite so quickly, even though Amy Jade Winehouse seemed “out of it” the day before when they saw each other.

When Amy sang her song “Rehab” in 2006 perhaps she was never closer to the truth than the line, “So they want to put me in rehab, Rehab. No, no no!”  What a shame. It seems she was in and out of rehab many times, but it never “took”. She never shook her addictions.

I really wasn’t a great fan of the beehived soul-jazz performer, but a tragic end like this is too sad. Will anyone learn from this untimely death that fame isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be? Some people can handle it and others can’t, too bad it seems to be what so many people strive for, but what brings them down.

Ms. Winehouse seems to have had a troubled psyche and perhaps she’ll be at rest now. It is a shame she found life such a struggle, with her drug abuse, alcohol abuse, eating disorder and it seems perhaps a myriad of other problems.

RIP Amy!

What a sad, sad end to such a promising life. I’ve always liked her music, but now it will be tinged with such sadness.
