I’ve never watched The Biggest Loser in my life, but I couldn’t help but notice the furor surrounding this seasons winner Rachel Frederickson, 24 who went from a very husky 260 lbs. to a very thin 105 lbs losing 59.6% of her body weight. Supposedly, even some trainers were shocked by Rachel’s results, see below picture.
Not only is the country abuzz with disapproval, but the health conscious are worried for Rachel’s health as she seems to below the BMI for her weight/height. People might want to remember this is a contest for $250,000……Rachel may have pushed the envelope to WIN. I’m not saying this is healthy or right, but money makes people do funny things and you can never make everybody happy.
The two other guys also lost an exorbitant amount of weight, but not quite enough to win……perhaps that’s what pushed Rachel to resort to “starving” herself as people have surmised since the last weigh-in if that is what she did.
David Brown, 43, came in second starting weight: 409 lbs. final weight: 187 lbs. Lost: 222 lbs., 54.28% of body weight. Bobby Saleem, came in 3rd. He went from 358 lbs. to 170 lbs. which is a loss of 188 pounds and a percentage of 52.5% of body weight.
Maybe she will put a little weight on now that it is over, I have to say, looking at the before and after pictures and having read the comments and articles out of curiosity…….people might want to realize, it’s a competition after all, and she wanted to win…..as all the competitors did. I hope she enjoys her money and notoriety, parlays it into a career or just moves on with her life. Hopefully all the naysayers are wrong that she doesn’t have anorexia, though I was surprised to see how emaciated she did look if the contestants “work out”, you’d think she’d have some muscle tone in her puny arms.
Again, people are funny and want NBC to now put sanctions and limits on the competition. However, none of these people have been in this competition themselves. How do they know what lengths they themselves would go to to win $250,000?
What do you think?

She looked great… if she could add a little bit of flesh. Some people do this for no monetary rewards, just the desire to stay healthier. Hopefully, she would stay in shape with all that money! Great article.

I thought she looked a little too thin, who wouldn’t have gone overboard trying to win $250,000? It is probably a healthy improvement over the 260 lbs. overall especially as we’ve both stated if she can now find a happy balance by putting on a few pounds and exercising…

So what are you saying? It’s a set-up? I think it’s the same woman, just different perspective……different camera angles. If not this would be a terrible scandal!!
